COUN 2900: NDCDA Book Study: Anxious Generation

This professional development course offers school counselors an in-depth book study of The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt, a groundbreaking exploration of the mental health crisis facing today's youth. Through guided reading, group discussion, and a reflective activity, participants will examine the cultural, technological, and developmental factors contributing to rising anxiety, depression, and social struggles among students.

Designed specifically for school counseling or career development professionals, this course will connect Haidt's insights with real-world school experiences and offer practical strategies to support student well-being. Topics include the impact of smartphones and social media on adolescent development, gender-specific trends in mental health, and the role of school systems in fostering resilience and connection.
