Biography: Emily Gibbens-Buteau is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of North Dakota. She earned her Ph.D. in Communication in 2023, as well as her M.A. and B.A. in Communication, all from UND. Before becoming a professor, she worked in the non-profit industry as the Generosity Coordinator for Altru Health Foundation where she specialized in communication and design, fundraising, and event planning.

COMM 110: Fundamentals of Public Speaking
This course will introduce students to the theoretical frameworks and practical application of public speaking by integrating conceptual themes of rhetoric, stylistic organization, delivery, evaluative assessment, and argumentation.

COMM 200: Writing for New and Traditional Media
This course is to introduce you to the basics of both traditional and new media writing. You will learn to write for multiple media outlets, and to tailor news to those outlets. You'll also learn to think critically about news, the media, and news sources.
