HIST 2900: A History of Human Enslavement - Modern-Day Slavery Around the Globe
Among the ancient nations where we have any record, we find that they enslaved other humans, and some of the greatest material works of antiquity were accomplished by those enslaved. In Assyria, sculptures were discovered in the early 20th century that show great masses of enslaved people - the conquest of war - engaged in dragging colossal monuments into position.

HIST 2900: Survey of the Culture of Rice in the Lowcountry
This course provides students with a cultural anthropological overview of the Southeastern United States Lowcountry during the years of the enslavement of African peoples in what was known as the Rice Kingdom. The specific crop of Rice is explored as well as all the ways the cultivation of this crop influenced the multiplicity of socio-economic factors present on the plantations and in the Lowcountry, the United States, and the World.
