Susan Akre is the Teaching, Learning and Assessment Coordinator for Deer River Public Schools in Deer River, Minnesota. This role includes district assessment, Title administration, induction programming, curriculum and instruction, staff development and PLC lead, instructional coach and GATE coordinator.

Sue considers herself to have been extremely fortunate to enjoy over 30 years in the teaching profession encouraging innovative school programming and pursuing excellence. Her Masters of Education is from Hamline University and has helped her develop a limitless passion for inquiry of scientifically based research, data-driven instruction, exemplary pedagogy and the power of collaborative learning communities. She has held various leadership roles at the district, regional and state levels and is dedicated to student achievement and success. Sue believes educators save lives!
