T&L 2900: The Toddler Brain
The Toddler Brain book study will dive into the connection of parenting behaviors and brain development between the ages of birth and 5 years. Our book study will take an in-depth look at what the author describes as QI Skills, and how these skills can be developed in the early years of life. Participants will be challenged to make meaningful connections to the families with whom they work, providing real life examples and scenarios of how parents support brain development of their children during daily routines and activities.
QI Skills will be separated into learning groups, in which each participant will complete an in-depth exploration of the assigned groups and make "theory to practice" connections within their role as an early intervention provider. Home visit plans will be created with special focus and attention to current Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) outcomes. Participants must provide evidence-based parent coaching strategies that support QI skills during daily routines and activities.
Participants will come together during in person or online learning platforms to discuss the assigned readings, QI skills, and personal practices that support the development of these foundational learning skills.
