T&L 2900: Reading for Change: Understanding and Supporting Marginalized Youth
Participants will choose one of three young adult novels to engage in a self-paced book study. The selected novels (a combination of fiction and graphic novels) explore a variety of current-day issues that are common to our marginalized student populations.
Reading literature is a common method of raising awareness and understanding as participants will have a safe environment to learn what it means to be an ally to marginalized youth. The hope is to encourage educators to reflect on their current classroom practices and adjust to meet the needs of all students.
