T&L 2900: VIR: Whole Brain Living, the Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive our Life
This online book study course provides the neuroscience research and Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor's lived experience of developing her method for "Whole Brain Living." During this book study and professional development course, this course will share with you Dr. Jill's story of having a stroke which totally took her Left Hemisphere offline and how through this experience and her full recovery as a stroke survivor and a neuroscientist she identifies that the half century belief that we have a right emotional brain that houses our creativity and left thinking brain that houses our rational thinking is a myth. Neuroscience now shows that we have four distinct modules of cells that Dr. Jill calls Characters. You will learn the characteristics of Character 1- Left Thinking; Character 2-Left Emotion; Character 3- Right Emotion and Character 4 - Right Thinking. Each of the characters have their own unique characteristics and once we become aware of the individual characteristics of each character, we will learn to determine which character we want to be in charge at any given moment. Dr. Jill has developed a simple technique called a "Brain Huddle" which is a practice of bringing our four Characters into conversation with each other to determine which one will be best in charge of the current situation that we are in.
