T&L 2900: Disrupting Poverty (Book Study)

This book study course seeks to aid teachers in examining, exploring, implementing, and classroom practices and strategies that disrupt the adverse effects of poverty on students and reflecting on classroom practices and strategies that disrupt the adverse effects of poverty on their lives in the classroom. The text introduces five classroom practices:

  1. Caring relationships and advocacy 
  2. High expectations and support 
  3. Commitment to equity 
  4. Professional accountability for learning 4.
  5. The courage and will to act 

This online course is self-paced to allow students to work independently around their own schedule. This is a two-credit professional development course.

PLEASE NOTE: Students enrolling in this course will need to contact the instructor, Erik Kolb, at instructorkolb@gmail.com for additional enrollment instructions. The instructor will collect a $30 instruction fee. This course is provided in Google Classroom.
