Conflict Resolution: Turning Challenges into Opportunities
Conflict is inevitable in life and leadership, and difficult conversations are sometimes necessary. These conversations can be uncomfortable, but conflict can be harmful when not addressed promptly. By listening empathetically, asking the right questions, understanding different personalities and work styles, and ascertaining the appropriate intervention methods, a well-managed conflict can positively impact your team and organization.
This course will help you view conflict as an opportunity for growth, equipping you with skills to listen effectively and to focus on specific issues without becoming emotional, generalizing or escalating the situation. Improve your ability to negotiate and resolve issues by learning to identify points of disagreement and express your needs clearly.
What you will learn:
- Common approaches to conflict (competing, avoiding, compromising, integrating, smoothing)
- The seven sources of conflict (values, interpersonal conflict, goals, performance, power struggle, limited resources, organizational based)
- Best practices for conflict prevention (modeling behaviors, setting expectations, healthy organizational cultures, managing toxicity)
