Missile System Fundamentals

More than ever, precision, lethality, and versatility are indispensable instruments of modern warfare. This course equips students with a foundational vocabulary and working knowledge of missile systems, technologies, issues, and problem-solving resources. Short quizzes and an exercise are used to illustrate key concepts of requirements development, operations, and risk assessment. The course is designed for people in MDA, AMC, RDECOM, SMDC, RTC, project management offices, and the contractor community who seek an introduction to or broadening of practical working knowledge.

Topics Include:

  • History, operational environments, and applications
  • Integration of key supporting disciplines
  • Missile systems' components, functions, and settings
  • Technical, operational, and cost evaluation
  • The language of missile systems
  • Tradeoffs between technology reach, cost, and performance
  • System performance assessment balance using combinations of analysis, simulation, and test
  • The capabilities and limitations of missile technology

U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
