Course Detail: HSM103 - Introduction to Industrial Hygiene (R)

This self-paced course will provide a basic understanding of industrial hygiene principles to the student. Furthermore, it will assist the student in understanding how to apply these principles. The role of the industrial hygienist will be explored. Toxicology, industrial processes, radiation, thermal stressors, noise, air sampling and analysis, data analysis, respiratory protection and ventilation will be discussed. This is done to provide the student with an understanding of how to recognize, evaluate and control industrial hygiene hazards. This course is not intended to make anyone an industrial hygienist but rather to understand the proper role of the profession. Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: Demonstrate awareness of the principles of Industrial Hygiene, Anticipation, Recognition, Evaluation, Control, and be prepared for future course work required by the Occupational Health and Safety Certificate Program.
