Course Detail: 386AGEOGRAPHYOFCOSTARICA - 386A The Geography of Costa Rica - IN PERSON

This class will focus on an overview of the human-environmental interactions from a regional perspective. Participants begin by learning about plate tectonics, climatic patterns, and biodiversity in Costa Rica. A historical overview of Costa Rica is then examined by focusing on the Spanish occupation of the area. The third component of the course focuses on economic patterns, population growth, the spatial structure of cities, and the cultural characteristics of the region. We finish our analysis with an examination of human impact on the natural environment and Costa Rica's efforts with conservation. Please note that the instructor will be presenting the session via Zoom. Participants will meet in C140.
