Course Detail: MAY2023MONTHLY - May 10, 2023 Monthly Meeting - Civil Engineering Through Crisis: Midland Flood Response and Beyond

Jason Michael Garza is a licensed professional engineer with the state of Michigan and has worked in civil engineering for more than 20 years, including five years in the private sector and 15 years for the Michigan Department of Transportation. Since joining MDOT, Jason has worked as a bridge inspector, bridge program engineer, cost and scheduling engineer, construction engineer, and served as the Associate Region Engineer for both Development and currently Maintenance and Operations. Through the roles he's held with MDOT, Jason has worked on a number of projects to address crisis situations that have impacted our state infrastructure. This includes high load hits on several of our interstate bridges, and leading the repair efforts on a number of roads and bridges impacted by a 500-year flood event and dam breach in May 2020. Jason's presentation will introduce the factors and challenges civil engineers face daily when met with crisis situations.
