Course Detail: 32WORSHIP - 32 Devout Detroit: Houses of Worship Tour with Detroit History Tours

Since Detroit's founding as Fort Pontchartrain Du Detroit in 1701, religion has played a massive role in shaping the architecture, alliances, and hearts of our citizens. Known all over the world as "The City of Churches," the Motor City boasts spectacular synagogues, marvelous mosques, and tranquil temples. Join Detroit History Tours as we celebrate Detroit, Highland Park, and Hamtramck houses of worship. You'll learn the stories of the architects who built them, the parishioners who embraced them, and the leaders who helped them thrive. This tour is not evangelical and instead will focus on the history of these magnificent spaces. Together with your Detroit History Tours guide, you'll tour the inside and outside of each building with onsite experts, enjoy lunch at The Congregation Cafe (built into a former church in Detroit's Boston Edison neighborhood), and learn some of the stories of Detroit's religious past on the bus en route to each location. Your ticket price includes the full tour, lunch, plus a donation to each house of worship we will visit. This tour will visit the following houses of worship:
?Trinity Lutheran Church (The largest Lutheran church in America)
?The Cathedral of The Most Blessed Sacrament (The seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit, and Archbishop of Detroit The Revered, Alan Vigneron)
?St. Florian's Church, Hamtramck (Home to the history of Hamtramck; St. Florian's steeple is by law the tallest point in the enclave city).
This trip package includes tickets for three houses of worship tours, lunch at The Congregation Cafe, and motor coach transportation.
