Course Detail: 128BAYCITY - 128 How Technology Helped Shape Bay City
As the United States was undergoing the second Industrial Revolution in the late 1800s, entrepreneurs were attracted to the Saginaw River Basin for its access to lumber and ways of moving products to market. They either used or invented technical improvements to corner markets and establish growing industries. Improvements in sawmills, shipbuilding and other industrial applications led businesses in the Saginaw Valley to become world famous. This class will highlight some of the technologies used by the companies that led to the local industries we see today.
