The property was purchased in 1868 as the site for Saginaw City's cemetery, replacing earlier burial grounds located along the west bank of the river. Burials from the earlier cemetery were relocated to Oakwood. The tour will focus on the history of the founding of the cemetery, landscape design, monuments and life-stories of some of the individuals interred there. Following the tour, we will have lunch at Sullivan's (5235 Gratiot Rd., Saginaw). Please note that this tour is outside and will be walking over uneven surfaces. There are no restrooms or available in cemetery. This local adventure includes cemetery tour and lunch. Participation limited to 20.
