The National Museum of the Great Lakes tells the awe-inspiring stories of our Great Lakes through breathtaking photography, over 300 incredible artifacts, a number of powerful audiovisual displays and 40 hands-on interactive exhibits. We'll start our day at the museum with a talk on "Shipwrecks and Archaeology," followed by a tour of the museum and the Col. James Schoonmaker Museum Ship.* After our visit to NMGL, we'll have lunch at Tony Packo's, the infamous home of the Hungarian hotdog. After lunch, participants will head to the Maumee River for a narrated boat cruise, discovering all the Maumee River has to offer - from stately homes to up-close views of wildlife. This trip includes motorcoach transportation, entrance to the National Museum of the Great Lakes, "Shipwreck Archaeology" talk, "Floating Palaces of the Great Lakes" (book discussion), lunch at Tony Packo's, and a narrated river cruise. *Please note that the Museum Ship and Museum Tug Ohio are not ADA accessible. Narrow, steep staircases are common throughout the boats and may provide difficulties in accessibility for some.
