Information

Meet in the Sherman County Market parking lot, 119 Illini Blvd., Sherman. We'll follow side streets as we make our way to the Historic Route 66 marker in Carpenter Park to see an original section of the 1926 pavement. This quarter-mile walkway includes wayside interpretive signage explaining the early alignment, the Sangamon River crossing, and the "Old Iron Bridge" vantage point. On the return trip, we will stop at the Fairlane Diner, 300 Crossing Drive, Sherman, for lunch and/or ice cream. Distance is 6-7 miles round trip.
