Take a ride on Springfield Mass Transit District buses to visit the new SMTD transfer center, "The Hub," at 111 S. 11th St., and then on to the SMTD Administrative Center at 928 S. Ninth St. At The Hub, we will view two new large murals and a historical marker representing important historic people and places in Sangamon County. At the Ninth Street office, we will hear from Tony Marres, SMTD Marketing Specialist, about recent updates. We will meet at 9 a.m. at the Sangamon County Public Health office, 2833 South Grand Ave. E. Parking is free, but please choose spaces away from the front door. (Two handicapped parking spaces are available at The Hub.) We will board a bus departing at 9:16 a.m. from South Grand Avenue; it will take us to The Hub. We will then transfer to a bus headed for the Ninth Street office. We will return by bus, via The Hub and the Public Health parking lot, by about 12:15 pm. Cost of the bus will be $1.25 round trip per person. Bring exact change. ***NOTE: If you wish to attend both Around Town and Meet, Greet and Eat (lunch) at Abe's Hideout on Sept 18, you must register for each event separately. Abe's will be aware the SMTD attendees will be arriving around 12:30 p.m. instead of noon.
