Camp Detail: ARDUINO - Embedded Systems with Arduino: Code, Circuits & Motion

Computer, Electrical & Software Engineering - Arduino

Who: High School Students ages 14-18

When: May 30 - June 4

Where: Prescott, Arizona

Tuition: $1700

Embedded systems are the specialized computers inside cars, appliances and aircraft. They read sensors and control hardware in real time. In this hands-on camp, you will program one and build the hardware around it; no experience is needed. You will program an Arduino microcontroller in C/C++, wire circuits on a breadboard, and work with sensors for light, temperature, and distance. Early projects convert light readings into sound and decode infrared remote signals to select and play songs. Then you will mount the electronics on a four-wheel car, drive its motors and servo, and write a feedback controller that holds the car at a set distance from your hand. By Thursday, you will program the car to switch between behaviors on its own, such as resting in the dark, following, or avoiding obstacles. Each camper takes their robot home at the end of the week.

Not for college credit
