The Michael J. Wheeler Memorial Camp Support Fund provides scholarships for students attending the Liftoff: Introduction to Aviation Camp at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

This fund honors the legacy of Michael J. Wheeler, an Embry-Riddle graduate, military helicopter pilot, and FAA investigator. Established by his wife, Barbara, it supports the next generation of aviators by helping remove financial barriers to attending camp.

Scholarships are awarded through a fair and structured application process managed by the Office of K-12 Education & Outreach.

*Camp scholarships apply to program costs only and do not cover travel or other associated expenses.


Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Completion of Parent/Guardian and Student Profiles on our website
  • Completion of scholarship application as outlined by the Office of K-12 Education & Outreach
  • Post-Camp Reflection:
    Recipients are required to submit a personal reflection (5-10 sentences) addressing the following:
    • Describe your overall camp experience
    • What were your favorite or most impactful moments?
    • How has this experience influenced your future education or career goals?

Important Notes:

  • Scholarship application must be submitted by the stated deadline
  • Submitting a scholarship application does not automatically secure a camp spot
  • Scholarships apply to program costs only and do not cover travel or other associated expenses
  • Scholarship applicants are responsible for completing registration profiles separately
