Course Description: Manufacturing Trades & Apprenticeship Readiness

This course is designed to equip individuals with essential industry-specific technical knowledge and employability skills, laying a solid foundation for a successful career in the manufacturing sector. Participants will engage in hands-on training, theoretical learning, and industry exposure covering key areas such as safety protocols, metrology, blueprint reading, machining and welding fundamentals, and quality control in production. Upon completion, graduates will be well-prepared to enter Registered Apprenticeship Programs or secure entry-level positions in various manufacturing fields.PROGRAM OUTCOMES: Employ safety protocols, equipment and hazard management on job sites.-Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills to effectively navigate workplace relationships.-Perform basic calculations necessary on job sites.-Demonstrate proficiency with basic manufacturing power and hand tools.-Demonstrate proficiency with basic manufacturing vocabulary and communication protocols.-Complete basic manufacturing tasks like reading drawings and blueprints, material measuring and cutting, and fastener identification and installation. -Demonstrate understanding of various advanced manufacturing techniques like CNC operations, robotics and additive manufacturing.

Additional Course Information

This course is supported by grant funding through the Oregon Higher Education Coordinating Committee, and therefore, there is no tuition cost to those who participate. Classes will be held at the Redmond Technology Education Center (RTEC) Monday thru Thursdays from 9:00AM to 2:30PM starting Monday, June 30, 2025 (mandatory Orientation Day) to Thursday, September 4,2025 (except Monday, September 1, 2025, due to Labor Day Holiday. Students will complete a total of 200 curriculum hours. Successful Graduates of this program will earn OSHA 10 Certification, Forklift Operator Certification (must be 18 & have OR DL), CPR/First-Aid Certification and COCC Non-Credit Training Certification.

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
