Course Description: Poetry Month: Environmental Poetry for Earth Day

Celebrate Poetry Month and Earth Day by writing and revising your own environmental poems. Join Irene Cooper for a workshop in which you'll "grow" new poems and learn techniques for how to shape and revise them. Read examples and practice some of the many ways you can capture the dynamics and issues of our world in a well-crafted poem.

Irene Cooper

Biography: Irene Cooper is the author of Committal, poet-friendly spy-fy about family (V.A. Press) & spare change (FLP), finalist for the Stafford/Hall Award for poetry. She co-edited Placed: An Encyclopedia of Central Oregon. Writings appear in Denver Quarterly, The Feminist Wire, The Manifest-Station, Phoebe, The Rumpus, Streetcake, Witness, and elsewhere. Irene co-founded Blank Pages Workshops and The Forge, an online writing intensive, and supports AIC-directed creative writing opportunities at a regional prison.

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
