Course Description: Let's Discuss the Supreme Court! A History of the Court and the Cases That Changed America!

This six-week lecture/discussion class will provide an in-depth analysis of the history of the Supreme Court from a constitutional perspective. The class will offer development of the United States Supreme Court, how the Court operates, and a detailed discussion of the great cases in Supreme Court history. Much discussion will take place on the current docket of Supreme Court cases, soon to be announced with their final rulings in late June. The course will be a lecture-discussion-personal analysis class, all in a respectful, polite, intriguing setting. The course facilitator will be Rod Hanson, a 47 year veteran teacher of the Constitution, and 12 year instructor of Political Science at Central Oregon Community College.

Rodney Hanson

Biography: Rod Hanson has spent 47 years teaching Government, Law, History, and the Constitution at Redmond High School, COCC and now for Community Education. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts History and Mathematics from Fresno State University in 1974; a Masters of Education and Teaching Credential, from Westmont College in 1975, and a Masters of Political Science: Constitutional Law, from American Military University in 2011. He and his wife of 45 years, Leslie, have lived in Bend since 1978 and have three children, and four grandchildren. He loves Dodger baseball, the Constitution, collecting and fixing up pinball machines from the 1940's and 1950's, gardening, cats, and hanging out with family.

Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC.
