Course Description: Knitting Science: Anatomy of a Stitch

Become a faster and more flexible knitter! Strengthen your knitting skills by unlocking the science behind every stitch. In this hands-on course, you will analyze stitch structure, identify leading legs and stitch facing, and explore how ergonomic techniques can improve comfort and efficiency. Whether you knit English, Continental, or your own hybrid style, this class helps you better understand your movements, and opens the door to using multiple techniques if you choose. While creating a custom cowl, you will practice reading your knitting, recognizing how stitch behavior shapes fabric, and developing personal strategies that fit your style and body. Leave class with a finished cowl and a deeper understanding of how to make knitting choices that work best for you. This class is for established knitters.

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
