Course Description: Redmond Community Choir

Redmond Community Choir provides an opportunity for amateur singers to participate in a musically enriching choral singing experience. This non-auditioned ensemble will learn and perform a wide variety of musical styles and genres including classical, pop, sacred, jazz, and spiritual. The course will culminate with a concert performance at the end of the term. All experience levels are welcome. Bring $25 (cash or check) for a music rental fee to the first class session.

Schedule:

Class meets for rehearsal/practice on Mondays, 9/22-12/8, on the COCC Redmond campus, Redmond Technology Center, room 209. Dress rehearsal will be 12/13 and performance on 12/14 at Redmond High School Auditorium.

Ken Piarulli

Biography: Ken is a lifelong musician with a passion for supporting the performing arts and believes that a vibrant music culture is vital to the quality of life in a community. After living in northern New York most of his life, he and his wife moved to Redmond in 2018 to be close to their son and daughter-in-law,Ken has performed professionally as a jazz pianist since 1972, in both solo and ensemble settings ranging from jazz trios to big bands. He has sung in several choral groups including chamber and symphonic choirs, and has directed choirs ranging from elementary children to adults. Before moving to Redmond, he was music and choir director at his Catholic church in Watertown, NY. He graduated from Syracuse University with a Master of Science in Music Education.Although his passion has always been music, Ken had a successful career as a certified financial planner and ran a financial advisory practice for 31 years. He has a history of involvement in giving back to his community and has served on several boards of non-profit organizations. He is currently involved with the Redmond Community Concert Association, has served on both the Redmond and Deschutes County Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committees and is a member of the Redmond Chamber of Commerce. Ken was the recipient of the 2023 Redmond Chamber of Commerce and CVB Community Involvement Award.When not making music, Ken and his wife Jude enjoy the many outdoor activities that Central Oregon offers, including cycling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, kayaking, rafting, and hiking. They have two grown sons and are now proud grandparents.

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
