Course Description: Short Stories & Flash Fiction

In this class, learn the basic elements of short story and flash fiction writing with award-winning author and college educator, Kat Mattingly. As part of the class, you will have a chance to practice skills for developing plot, character, setting, voice, and dialogue while writing short fiction pieces. Kat will also discuss avenues for publishing your short stories and flash fiction, whether written in this class or otherwise. Kat has a short story collection with Winter Goose Publishing entitled Fractured Hearts, which includes five of her award-winning stories. Open to writers of all genres and levels!

Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
