Course Description: Photography 101: Digital Camera Operations and Exposure

Discover how to create beautiful digital photographs from start to finish with professional photographer Steve Giardini! This course covers everything you need to know to produce great photos: camera components, how it operates, buttons & features, and how to choose the best settings and lens for specific purposes. Expect behind-the-camera skills practice under expert guidance. This course includes a field coaching experience. Geared toward beginner and intermediate students. A field session will be scheduled for Shevlin Park in Bend. Students are responsible to self-transport to the filed session. No prerequisites

Schedule: Classroom Sessions are: Thursday and Tuesday, 10/3, 10/8, 10/10, and 10/15 from 5-7:30 pm, at COCC's Chandler Lab, room 207, 1027 NW Trenton Avenue. Field session is 10/12, 9-11:30 am, Shevlin Park. Students must self-transport to the field session.

Additional Course Information

Required Camera Equipment: Students must have a digital camera. A camera with a detachable lens is preferred but not required. Cell phones are not allowed. The camera must have a rechargeable battery and a file storage card. A tripod is recommended.

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
