Course Description: Ceramics: Hand Building Techniques

In this exciting course, students will learn multiple hand building techniques including: press, hump/slump and slip casting molds, box forms with lids, and coil and slab sculpture. Emphasis will be on textures, patterns, and applique to build artistic expression and individual design aesthetic. All levels welcome.

Please bring the following supplies to the first day of class. Required materials are available at the COCC Bookstore.

- Bag of clay: Cone 6 G-Mix (must be purchased through the COCC Bookstore)
- Pottery Basic Tool Kit (Preferred is the kit made by Kemper), available at COCC Bookstore
- Recommended materials: Set of paint brushes
- Apron
- Stamps for texture and pattern
- Lock for locker
