Course Description: Beginning Guitar: Part 3 Moving Up the Fretboard

In this course, students will learn movable chords on the whole fretboard, including power chords and barre chords. Students will also have the opportunity to dig into the basics of music theory as it relates to the guitar and popular music by looking at how chords relate to one another within different keys. Students will also be introduced to the building blocks of guitar solos through learning pentatonic scales and more advanced riffing techniques. Students must have completed Beginning Guitar: Part 2, have the required textbook and an acoustic guitar in order to participate. Materials/preparation are required for this course. Required Preparation/Materials:
Students must have completed Beginning Guitar: Part 2, have the required textbook and an acoustic guitar in order to participate in Beginning Guitar: Part 3.

Required Textbook:
Guitar Roads: A Beginner's Guide to the Guitar by Andrew Cooper.

NOTE: All class times are Pacific Time (PT).

- Course fee covers registration for one person unless otherwise noted.
- Must have access to a computer or laptop with current updated operating system. Mobile devices can be used to access some parts of classes but you may not be able to fully participate or complete your course on a phone or tablet.
- A high-speed internet connection.
- An up-to-date internet browser. We recommend Firefox or Chrome. Internet Explorer or Safari may have trouble and are not supported.
- Integrated or USB-connected webcam, speakers and microphone.
- You will need a Zoom login. Please do not share the Meeting ID information, nor invite others to participate with you.
