Course Description: Sewing: Upcycle a Coat or Blanket!

Bring an old textile and let's make it brand new and something you are proud to wear! Fashion Workshop will provide all the sewing and serger machines, cutting tools and mats, an iron and other notions like thread and buttons or snaps to choose from. You only have to rustle up an old blank, quilt, heavy drapes or other textile to work with. This class emphasizes creative connection and reducing waste in a fashionable way!

Additional Course Information

All machinery, cutting tools and mats, an iron and notions (thread, buttons and snaps) are provided. Students are responsible for bringing their own textile to upcycle. An upcycled coat requires approximately a twin-size blanket worth of material.

Biography: Qristy founded Fashion Workshop in 2025 with the mission to facilitate free and/or low-cost sewing and design classes and a community. Qristy brings a lifetime of passion for sewing and making, but most of all, fashion! Fashion Workshop is a 501(cs)3 non-profit organization registered with the Oregon Cultural Trust.

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
