Course Description: Advanced Spanish Special Studies: Music

Develop your comprehension skills, grammar base, and passion for the Spanish language with music. Using a different song each week, this contextually rooted and culturally rich medium will guide you through the practice of speaking Spanish and incorporating it into your everyday life. New materials are added each session, so returning students are always welcome. Recommended preparation: Intermediate to Advanced Spanish language skills.

NOTE: All class times are Pacific Time (PT). Conversational Spanish Courses are taught in both English and Spanish.

Online Course Information/Requirements:

- Course fee covers registration for one person unless otherwise noted.
- Must have access to a computer or laptop with current updated operating system. Mobile devices can be used to access some parts of classes but you may not be able to fully participate or complete your course on a phone or tablet.
- A high-speed internet connection.
- An up-to-date internet browser. We recommend Firefox or Chrome. Internet Explorer or Safari may have trouble and are not supported.
- Integrated or USB-connected webcam, speakers and microphone.
- You will need a Zoom login. Please do not share the Meeting ID information, nor invite others to participate with you.

David Engel

Biography: David Engel is a Senior Instructor of Spanish at OSU-Cascades in Bend. He also co-directs the Faculty Support Center at OSU-Cascades in partnership with the Center for Teaching and Learning. He earned a Master of Arts in Spanish Language Teaching from Southern Oregon University and a Diploma de Espanol como Lengua Extranjera from Instituto Cervantes in Madrid. David is a Co-Founder of Ventanas, LLC, which develops and leads cultural immersion programs in Spain and Portugal. He has provided Spanish instruction and training in Oregon since 2006 with such organizations as COCC, Bend-LaPine Schools, Redmond and Jefferson County School Districts, Deschutes County, St. Charles Medical Center, and Bend and Redmond Fire Departments. He does official document translation for public institutions.

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
