Course Description: EMT Refresher

This course combines 9 hours of self-paced online learning with 18 hours of in-person class sessions that cover the State of Oregon, Oregon Health Authority (OHA) EMT 24-hour renewal requirements and the revised NREMT 20-hour EMT Recert National Component. Access for the online class is sent 10 days prior to the in-person class and all online coursework must be completed before the in-person classes.

This class combines self-paced online learning with in-person class sessions that meet Friday, 2/28 and Saturday, 3/1 from 8:00am-6:00pm (1 hour lunch) on the COCC Bend Campus, Cascades Hall room 114. Self-paced online content available 2/12-2/26/25. Students must complete online readings and assignments by 11:59pm on 2/25.

Registration/refund deadline is 2/11/25.

NOTE: All class times are Pacific Time (PT).

Students will receive access to the online course via email at least 10 days prior to the in-person class. All online coursework must be completed by 11:59 pm on 2/25 to receive a completion certificate for 27 hours at the end of the in-person classes.

Sinead James

Biography: Sinead James was born and raised in Ireland where she graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Studies from Letterkenny Institute of Technology. She moved to Oregon in 1998 and graduated as a Paramedic with an Associate Degree in Applied Science in 2003 from COCC. She works full-time as a Firefighter/Paramedic for Redmond Fire & Rescue. She has been a part-time employee at COCC since the early 2000s and currently teaches the EMT Basic refresher courses.

Students must cancel by contacting our office via phone: (541) 383-7270 or email: ceinfo@cocc.edu. Cancellations received 5 days prior to the start of the class will receive a full refund. Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash. Failure to participate in a course or program does not result in a refund. Exceptions to the general refund policy are noted in the course descriptions on our website and in the printed schedule.
