Dust off your guitar and learn fundamental skills in this introduction to guitar basics. Learn how to read tablature, play single note melodies, basic rock and blues techniques, chords and strumming. Emphasis on gaining rhythmic control, picking development and finger independence. In this course, students will build on skills learned in Beginning Guitar: Part 1, by advancing through more complex chording and strumming patterns. Students will also learn to play riffs, and combine riffs with power chords to develop basic rock techniques, more complex picking patterns, and continue to develop their tablature reading skills. By learning basic chord progressions in several keys, students will be able to learn to play complete songs and begin to develop a personal repertoire. Materials are required for this course.

In this course, students will learn movable chords on the whole fretboard, including power chords and barre chords. Students will also have the opportunity to dig into the basics of music theory as it relates to the guitar and popular music by looking at how chords relate to one another within different keys.
