Make your acrylic paintings more impactful by building a strong foundation through design, composition and value. Explore the four elements of good design, proper composition techniques as well as principles of color excitement and value. Some acrylic painting experience is helpful. Paints provided for the first class, panels available to purchase from instructor ($7- $10). A list of materials required for the remaining classes will be reviewed at the first class session.

Explore how to strengthen a painting's composition with Notan, the Japanese term for "light-dark harmony." Notan can be used to create different patterns of light and dark element in a painting. Learn how to apply basic Notan techniques to reveal the balance behind a painting. Students may want to bring a lunch or snack. Materials are required for this course.
