Develop your own artistic language in this fast-paced introduction to drawing. A variety of techniques will be explored to help you build fundamental drawing and composition skills. Explore how to paint dynamic landscapes in oil, based on a photograph. Learn how to apply strong value, design and color to any landscape reference in order to master the challenge of making your painting look better than the photograph. Bring your own landscape photo or one will be provided. All skill levels welcome. Materials are required for this course.

Pastels are fun, fast, tactile and satisfying. Learn about master pastel artists and explore how to build beautiful pastel drawings including landscapes, still life and portraits. Experiment with various types of pastels, techniques and paper and learn how to preserve a finished piece of art. This is not a beginning art class, it is best if students have some drawing or painting experience. Materials are required for this class.

Improve your drawing and painting skills and learn new ones while discovering the art of journaling. Learn pen and ink and watercolor wash as a means to express yourself. Instructor will take you step-by-step through the process and teach you the basics so you have a fun and rewarding experience that you can continue at home. All skill levels welcome. Bring a watercolor journal or purchase one in class for $15. All other materials are provided.

Perspective is a drawing technique that gives objects the appearance of going back in space, showing distance and depth. This class will focus on easy, step-by-step instructions for creating one and two-point perspective drawings.

Join professional artist Barbara Berry to explore a variety of special effects using watercolor paint and a combination of other media. In this workshop, students will learn how to create texture using items such as sea salt, rice paper collage, plastic wrap, rubbing alcohol and white acrylic paint to enhance their watercolor paintings. More traditional techniques such as brush rolling, lifting and toothbrush spattering will also be explored. All skill levels welcome. Materials provided except for paper. Paper available for purchase in class at $2-$3/sheet.

Explore the unique qualities of watercolor as a painting medium. Emphasis will be placed on fundamental skills, color and composition while painting from a variety of subjects. This is a studio course in which students will gain substantial hands-on experience. Continuing Education students will work alongside credit students in this course. All skill levels welcome. Learn to master the art of watercolor using a step-by-step approach. Students will complete a series of skill-building exercises and will gain an understanding of the building blocks of watercolor: the wash, how light works, edge patterning, and the use of value to create volume and how to use it in your paintings. Materials are provided with the exception of watercolor paper. Students may bring their own or purchase from the instructor at $3 per sheet.
