Course Description: Ham Radio Technician Licensing
Amateur Radio (ham radio) is a popular hobby and service that brings people, electronics, and communication together. Before you can get on air, you need to be licensed and understand the rules to operate legally. This course will help you prepare to pass the Ham Radio Licensed Technician test and obtain your license, so you can begin your journey into ham radio. The curriculum is primarily guided self-study and is approved by the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) and the FCC. The class will end at 4 pm with a 45-minute licensing test. The cost of the class includes the ARRL licensing manual but does not cover the cost of the test. Students must bring $15 cash to pay for the test materials provided by the exam team. (Credit cards will not be accepted). Once you pass the test, the FCC will contact you and require a $35 processing fee prior to assigning you a ham radio call sign. Students aged 16 or older may register for this class, but those under age 18 must attend with a paid parent or adult. See the below web site for new FCC requirements.
