Course Description: Aromatherapy Fundamentals

Introduces essential oils' properties, benefits, and effects on the body when used in clinical and holistic settings. Massage therapists should have prior education and understanding of basic massage techniques before registering for this course. (20 contact hours, CEUs included). Check the College Bookstore to purchase 3 Pack of Therapeutic Grade Oils (Lemon, Lavendar, and Peppermint) and optional textbook.

Register for course by 9/18/25. This is a hybrid course beginning on 9/22/25, ending on 12/14/25. In-person class meetings on the Bend campus (HCC rm 170) on Mondays from 1-2:50pm. Students must complete online coursework through Canvas, beginning on 9/22/25. Course materials to purchase: optional textbook ISBN: 0914955004 and required essential oils. List provided by instructor the first week of class.

Elyse Williams

Biography: Clinical Herbalist, Certified Nutrition Specialist, Certified Reflexologist, Reiki Master/Teacher

Elyse brings nearly two decades of experience studying and practicing herbal medicine. Her early fascination with plant medicine led to over eight years of self-study with native people in rural Alaska, Honduras, Costa Rica, Belize and Peru, and prompted her to pursue a Master of Science degree in Herbal Medicine at the Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, MD (now Maryland University of Integrative Health).

As her Washington DC practice grew, Elyse connected the need for healthy functioning digestion to properly utilize herbal medicine, and became a Certified Nutrition Specialist through the National Board of Certified Nutritionists. Not long after, she saw the need to engage her clients' emotional and energetic imbalances in order to promote the physical healing they were seeking. This led to further study and certification at the Baltimore School of Reflexology, training in essential oil therapeutics and Aromatherapy, Mahatma Reiki Master/Teacher training and becoming a certified instructor of SynergyDance, based on Randolf Stone's Polarity Therapy methods.

Since moving to Bend five years ago, Elyse has continued to expand her personal practice with new powerful tools, and now works at Vitality Cleanse Center offering reflexology and energy work as well as herbal and nutritional education and consultation. Elyse continues to offer educational classes to the community in herbal medicine and essential oils and serves as an instructor at Central Oregon Community College where she teaches for the Licensed Massage Therapy department.

Elyse's practice is fueled by a passion to initiate healing change at the most pivotal level where the client is most strongly imbalanced and poised to transform. Deeply ingrained patterns stemming from spiritual/emotional, mental, and physical dis-ease can only be healed when the client uses his/her own unique messaging system on all of these levels to allow for release, restoration, and active healing alignment through greater awareness of Self.

Full refunds are also issued for classes cancelled by COCC. Refunds will be issued back to your card or in the form of a check and mailed within two weeks of the cancellation date if paid by check or cash.
