Course Description: Beer Appreciation: Belgian-Style Ales
Are you looking to improve your understanding and appreciation of how complex, nuanced, gastronomic, and downright tasty beer can be? If so, join us in our Beer Appreciation series. Each session will explore the history of a specific style including the different ingredients-chiefly malts, hops, unique waters, and yeast strains-that create such delicious disparities. Learn to properly examine and enjoy the wide range of beer, starting with its visual presentation, then assessing the aromas, and finally appreciating the flavors. This session will focus on Belgian-Style Ales best described by its heavy emphasis on malt and fruity yeast flavors. Designed to remove mystery and intimidation from your local brewpub menus, the instructor will provide a list of recommended beers to purchase before the session so you can taste along if you choose. Participants must be 21 years of age or older.
