Course Detail: Meaning in the Meal: Exploration of Our Ties to Food
Have you ever wondered why we eat what we do? How about why we don't like a particular food? Spend time in this class on a personal journey of self-discovery and personal examination of your own ties to food. Instructor Shannon Hodgen has combined her passion, experience, education and training, to bring students this unique opportunity to learn about their own ties to food and share memories of food. This class is a combination of classroom instruction and discussion as well as hands-on food preparation to help students expand their culinary skills. Students will have the opportunity to create their favorite dish to share with the class along with the story in the meaning of their meal. Chef Hodgen has a MA in Counseling Psychology, a BS in Geography and is a recent graduate of Cascades Culinary Institute at COCC.
