Course Detail: Meaning in the Meal: Exploration of our Ties to Food
Have you ever wondered why we eat what we do? How about why we don't like a particular food? Spend time in this class on an personal journey of self-discovery and personal examination of your own ties to food. Instructor, Shannon Hodgen, has combined her passion, experience, education and training, to bring students this unique opportunity to learn about their own ties to food and share memories of food. This class is a combination of classroom instruction and discussion as well as hands-on food preparation to help expand culinary skills while making their favorite dish. Students will submit their special ingredient at registration and the class will use these special dishes to share a meal and the story in the meaning of their meal.About the instructor: Chef Shannon Hodgen has a MA in Counseling Psychology a BS in Geography and is a recent graduate of Cascades Culinary Institute at COCC. She began teaching Continuing Education culinary classes at COCC in January 2018, while completing her studies and has found a way to combine all of her education into one endeavor.
