Course Description: Snowshoeing Fundamentals
Snowshoeing offers an exciting opportunity to enjoy the beautiful outdoors with minimal technical skill. Students will learn about appropriate gear as well as how to safely navigate snowshoe trails. Course includes two field sessions providing an opportunity for students to take advantage of early snow conditions and explore Central Oregon's winter ecology. Although this course is designed to teach foundational snowshoeing skills to beginners, all experience levels are welcome to participate. Snowshoe trails will vary in length from 3-5 miles, reasonable physical fitness necessary but no snowshoeing experience required. Appropriate gear and safety will be reviewed during the initial information session via Zoom. For the field sessions, students are responsible for their own transportation and will be asked to meet at the field location. Course is dependent on adequate snow levels.
