Course Detail: Oncology Massage
Massage can be a powerful healing tool for those living with cancer and cancer survivors. For this course, your instructors will use a variety of learning methods including cognitive, mindfulness-based, kinesthetic, emotional, visual, intuitive to honor the multi-dimensional needs of cancer patients and to help cultivate broad, safe and effective assessment and treatment skills in students. The course will consist of classroom exercises and discussion based on Medicine Hands: Massage Therapy for People with Cancer by Gayle MacDonald, MS, LMT, hands-on massage practice with peers, and finish by practicing an oncology-specific patient intake and 60-minute massage with a cancer survivor. One hour lunch. Must have a current Oregon massage license.
