Course Detail: Nutrition for Healthy Aging
Starting in our 50's, our nutrient needs increase and become closer to those of the average athlete! This is because our major systems tend to weaken as we age. The digestive, circulatory and immune systems are especially vulnerable. Unless these systems get the support they need, their deterioration can lead to a cascade of health problems we're all too familiar with - including decreased stamina, joint discomfort, and thinning skin and bones. Even debilitating infections such as shingles and pneumonia may be prevented with proper nutrition. This class will examine the foods, dietary habits and supplements that can help us be healthier as we age.
