Course Detail: Hiking Arches & Canyonlands National Parks
Explore the fantastic landscape of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks with former NPS Ranger Damian Fagan. Learn about the unique natural and cultural features of the regions while hiking through canyons, over slickrock, and under stone arches. Explore the prehistoric Ancestral Puebloan culture that occupied this region and learn about the desert environment. Hiking trails are moderate in difficulty and require walking over uneven terrain with average daily hiking up to 12 miles (combination of shorter and longer hikes). Hikes will be based out of Moab, UT. Students will need to secure their own travel to and from Moab, Utah. Students are also responsible for their own overnight accommodations and most meals. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Best Western Plus Inn in downtown Moab. A pre-trip meeting will review travel options, hotel/camping accommodations, food and other itinerary needs. Students must be 18 or older to participate in this class.
