Course Detail: Oregon Sourced Craft Brewing
Learn the process of beer brewing from both a homebrew and commercial point of view. In this class, students will brew a recipe designed by award-winning homebrewer Steve Brainerd using raw ingredients sourced from Oregon vendors and COCC's Sabco Brew Magic system. Brewing topics such as off-flavors and what causes them, sensory analysis for tasting and judging, and recipe design will be explored along with tips from professionals and homebrewers. The three sessions cover brewing, kegging and bottling and will take place onsite at Geist Beerworks, a local commercial boutique brewery located in Redmond. Students need to bring $20 cash or check to the first class to cover the cost of materials and beer samples. Must be 21+ and show ID. Brewing experience not necessary, but helpful.
