Course Detail: Fundamentals of Woodworking
Sharpen your woodworking skills. Whether you are a hand tool user or power tool user, starting your first project, or looking to push yourself to the next level, this class is for you. Learn about shop safety, sharpening, tool use and maintenance, wood selection, and more. In this small class, your individual project and skills receive special attention. Take advantage of this opportunity to work in a generously equipped wood shop alongside an instructor who has extensive experience and the tool collection of a professional furniture maker. The term project will be an Adirondack chair. This project places more emphasis on band saw skills, cutting tapered and angled boards, recessing screws and plugging the holes. Students who have taken this class previously will have the opportunity to have a pair of chairs and possibly time to add a foot rest and/or side table. Projects, materials and safety discussed at first class. Attending the first class is mandatory. Materials not included. Visit our Woodworking webpage for project photos.
