Sewing: Fashion Exploration Youth Camp

Join a fashion workshop this summer for 4 days of fashion exploration! Students will learn how to use a sewing machine and serger, learn about personal style, fashion silhouettes, illustration, textiles and pattern drafting with draping on a mannequin. Students can experiment with many different techniques and tools, or focus on creating their own original design. Each student will work in their own sketchbook that they will take home at the end of camp to continue developing as a portfolio. This fashion workshop provides all the equipment and supplies, and respects each unique student's learning preferences. Ages 10-15.

Day in the Outdoors: Think Wild Youth Camp

In partnership with Think Wild, this one-day camp provides a day of learning about the incredible connections between animals, habitats and people. This hands-on camp invites students to explore a local park with up close learning about habitat restoration, native species and the special ecosystem of Central Oregon. From beavers, to birds, to wildlife and more, this camp invites curious minds and a sense of adventure. Ages 10-15.

Shapes of Oregon: Creative Collages Youth Camp

Explore Oregon through color, texture and imagination! In this creative collage camp, students will use pre-cut papers, patterns and layered shapes to design their own bold landscape inspired by Central Oregon's mountains, forest and skies. Campers will learn how to combine colors, build depth and arrange shapes to create a scene that feels vibrant and full of life. With hands-on guidance and room for personal style, every student will assemble a framed collage to take home. Ages 10-15.

CHN 101: Mandarin Chinese I - Live-streamed

This course introduces Mandarin Chinese language presented within the context of Chinese culture. First course of a three-course sequence. Introduces students to the sound system of Mandarin Chinese and moves on to basic skills in listening, speaking, reading and copying a limited number of Chinese characters. This is a non-credit Community Education class taken with credit students. You will not receive college credit.

Mat Pilates

Pilates exercises are performed on the floor using a yoga mat to support your body and movement. This class focuses on building core strength, improving balance, coordination, muscle tone and flexibility. Designed for beginners, the class also offers adaptations and progressions for intermediate and advanced students, ensuring everyone is challenged at their own level. Yoga mat is required, and will be provided for students who do not have one.

Strengthen your leadership skills and build a more effective workplace with this practical, hands-on professional development series from the Central Oregon Community College Center for Business. Designed for supervisors, managers, business owners, and aspiring leaders in Crook County, this program focuses on the real-world skills needed to lead people, improve customer relationships, and build strong teams. Offered through the COCC Prineville Campus, the series consists of one class per month over three months. Create, edit, format, and save spreadsheets using Excel. Write formulas, create charts, manage multiple worksheets, and customize the appearance to meet your needs. By the end of the course, you will be able to create and develop well-designed spreadsheets using expressions, formulas, and functions. Computers are provided by COCC during class. Prerequisite: Basic Windows experience.

Experience the creativity and beauty of star photography with professional photographer Brent Bunch! Learn how to do star photography and light painting with a flashlight, how to set up a digital camera in full manual mode to achieve the best star shots, and how to edit star shots in your computer. This class will take place at Prineville Reservoir State Park, which is an International Dark Sky park.

The customer is always right and sometimes they need help finding the truth. Most customers are respectful and have straightforward needs. Crook County Management and Supervision Series: Recruiting and Retaining Great

Recruiting good employees can be challenging in the best of times. Since the pandemic of 2020-2021, many businesses have struggled to find interested and capable employees with the potential for growth who will commit longer-term (e.g. a year or more). Ten to hundreds of hours can be spent building recruitment systems, completing outreach, soliciting applications and resumes, conducting interviews, checking references, following up and communicating with applicants, and making selections. Once hired, even more hours and costs are invested including training and orientation. To hire employees who are retained less than a year, is hard on some industries. Hiring employees with great potential who want to stay and learn a business is the focus of this course along with retention and creating an highly desirable work environment.
