NJDFS Hazmat Awareness Pro board (4 Hours) Hazardous Materials "Awareness" is the first of the courses designed to meet O.S.H.A. C.F.R. 1910.120 and N.F.P.A. 472 for the First Responder. This four-hour course is aimed at first responders (police, firefighters, and E.M.S.). The areas covered in the course include health and safety, detecting the presence of Hazardous Materials, the U.S. D.O.T. Emergency Response Guidebook, scene management, roles and notification responsibilities of municipal, county and state organizations. This Level I First Responder Awareness is offered to anyone who needs the annual refresher training and/or has not had initial training. Pre-Requisites: - Pre-Requisites: NJ State Firefighter 1 Certification. - Refer to 2024 NJDFS Hazmat Material Application Certification Form NJDFS Hazmat Operations Pro board (16 Hours) This course will provide the student with the knowledge and skills to adequately deal with hazardous materials in a defensive mode. This course is designed for firefighters who respond to Level I hazardous materials incidents. Modules will include basic chemistry and radiological terms, basic hazard and risk assessment, personal protective equipment requirements, basic hazardous materials control, containment and confinement procedures, basic decon procedures and basic incident termination procedures.Pre-Requisites: - NJ State Firefighter 1 Certification, & Hazmat Awareness- Refer to 2024 NJDFS Hazmat Material Application Certification Form PPE Requirements: Full Structural Firefighting Ensemble and SCBA
