Certificate Programs

Discover the power of machine learning. Machine learning is the science of enabling computers to learn and act without explicit programming. Over the past decade, it has become pervasive, resulting in innovations such as self-driving cars, speech recognition, effective web search and a deeper understanding of the human genome. Data scientists also view it as the best path toward achieving human-level Artificial Intelligence (AI). Those capable of extracting knowledge, information and insights from vast amounts of unstructured data benefit from immense power and value. Learn about the most effective machine learning techniques, and practice implementing them to work for you. This program provides a broad introduction to machine learning, building on data mining and statistical pattern recognition. Understand the theory and practical skills needed to quickly and effectively apply these techniques to new problems. Completing this certificate will demonstrate your ability to transform unstructured data into appealing, functional and production-ready machine learning solutions through practical, hands-on experience.

All tools and data utilized in this course will be open source and freely available for use before, during and after the course.

Modeling and Simulation (M&S) is used in a wide range of DoD and aerospace applications including mission, combat, logistics and human factors planning. In each area, M&S is applied across the life cycle, from concept development and design to production, testing, deployment and operations. Our M&S program is guided by advisors from government, academia and industry and offers instruction from real-world M&S experts. Build a strong foundation in M&S to improve decision-making, product design, risk and safety management and program efficiency. Learn how modeling and simulation is used to improve engineering processes, facilitate system of systems integration, improve live test planning and represent system attributes not easily examined in real-time.

Prerequisite: Undergraduate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.

Choose any four courses from the certificate list.

The "Systems Analysis, Modeling, and Simulation" course can be applied to the Systems Engineering Certificate.

Python programming is a highly sought-after skill in today's job market. Known for its simplicity and readability, Python is a versatile and powerful high-level language. It enables users to write more functional programs with fewer lines of code. In this certificate program, participants will build a strong foundation in Python, which is widely used across various fields such as data science, web development, system automation, computer graphics and basic game development. Whether you are new to coding or can script in your sleep, Python is an essential skill to master.

The "Introduction to Python Programming" and "Advanced Python Programming" courses can also be applied to the Master Programmer Certificate.

Strengthen your technical understanding of rocket propulsion, from fundamental principles to practical application. Learn insights from subject-matter experts on the essentials of rocket propulsion and missile systems, covering both conventional and advanced propulsion operations. You'll explore critical aspects of propulsion system development, operation and sustainment. With a wealth of technical materials and case studies, this program is invaluable for both propulsion engineers and project managers.

Prerequisite: Undergraduate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.

Choose any three courses from the certificate list.

Prepare for success in the professional systems engineering (SE) environment. The certificate program focuses on designing and managing complex engineering systems throughout their lifecycle, with applications across a wide range of industries. Learn from experienced, real-world practitioners who offer insights into core processes, techniques and tactics essential for effective systems engineering. Each course covers key principles of systems engineering and validates participants' knowledge of the interdisciplinary approach to systems engineering.

Prerequisite: Undergraduate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.

The "Requirements Development" and "System Validation and Verification" courses can also be applied to the Test and Evaluation Certificate. Additionally, the "Systems Analysis, Modeling, and Simulation" course can be applied to the Systems Engineering Certificate and the Modeling and Simulation Certificate.

Designed to address the principles of test and evaluation (T&E), this program covers all aspects of T&E throughout a system's life cycle. Learn the roles, purposes, functions and techniques of T&E within the systems engineering process. Gain insights through experienced-based instruction on topics such as modeling and simulation to enhance the T&E process, developmental test and evaluation, live fire test and evaluation and operational test and evaluation.

Prerequisite: Undergraduate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.

Take four core courses and choose one elective.

The "Requirements Development" and "System Validation and Verification" courses can also be applied to the Systems Engineering Certificate. Additionally, the "Project Scope, Cost, and Schedule Management" course can be applied to the Project Management Certificate.
