Course Detail: WTSN242 - Substation Apprenticeship 4B

This 15-week course meets six times. As a result of this course a student will be able to Demonstrate communication facilities' safety protocols; describe the process and purpose of insulation resistance testing, turns ratio testing, oil testing, and inspection of power transformers including the various components and operation of a sudden pressure relay, and capacitance, and bushing testing; demonstrate dew point testing and oil dielectric testing as part of power transformer vacuum dry-out procedures; demonstrate how to utilize a calibrating resistor in the process of calculating test current applied to the heater element in a winding temperature circuit; and discuss the operation and control of substation voltage regulators and how to inspect and remove them from service.
