Course Detail: WTSN121 - Substation Apprenticeship 2A

This 15-week course meets 6 times. As a result of this training students will demonstrate and explain the correct usage and testing of personal protective equipment; identify the differences between series, parallel and combination circuits; then utilize Ohm's Law as well as Norton's, Thevenin's, and Superposition Theorems to calculate the total resistance and current flow in combination circuits and soft complex combination circuits, and parallel circuits; define exponential curve, Henry (H), eddy current, hysteresis, R-L time constant, and calculate the time it takes for a current to reach its full value when working with magnetic and electromagnetic induction, inductive reactance, and inductance; explain the difference between DC and AC, and utilize basic trigonometry, including vectors and magnitude, to compute instantaneous values of voltage and current in a sine wave, as well as to compute the peak, RMS, and average values of voltage and current in an AC circuit; and describe Inductance, and Resistive-Inductance in series and parallel circuits, then use measuring and testing instruments and trigonometry to solve for missing values in inductive and resistive-inductive series and inductive and resistive-inductive parallel AC circuits.
